Nothing like getting together with old friends -- I was lucky to get to see a bunch of my boys from UNC on this trip to New York:
The cool thing about this picture is the TV screens behind us which provide a pretty accurate date stamp -- the screen on the left is the Dodgers' last stand against the Phillies (who won the game to advance to the World Series) and the other screen is the final Obama v McCain debate.
This party, hosted by the Players Union, was held at Barcelona restaurant in Scottsdale, AZ. Meeting Barry Sanders was a thrill -- every athlete, professional and amateur, can learn more about how to conduct themselves on and off the field by studying this great runner's career... He never spiked the ball, he never bragged, and when he retired from the Lions (still very much at the top of his game) he was within a game's rushing yardage of breaking the all-time NFL record -- but he simply walked away from the game... Barry also tithed to his local church -- he is a man of strong convictions and I have the utmost respect for him.
Watching Barry Bonds break Hank Aaron's record was a special moment in baseball history -- and watching Barry Bonds hit for the past 10 years has been amazing; he is easily the most-disciplined slugger I've ever seen.
Kevin Gottesman took this picture of me and Thomas Layton (and it looks like we have an official time for the historic home run too)!
